Police visit local Honey fair

An Anglesey-based officer joined in all the fun of a Honey Fair – the first of its kind to be held on the island.

The local Neighbourhood Policing Team was invited to attend the St Cadwaladr's Church Honey Fair which operated under the umbrella of Open Church Day – a regular event in the calendar for all Churches and Chapels in Wales.

Local Police Community Support Officers, Alison Williams spent the morning at the fair in Llangadwaladr, held last weekend, talking to members of the local community. She said: “These are just the sorts of events where we like to attend and meet people from the community."

The Reverend Jane Bailey said: “It was great that PCSO Williams could join us on the day, which turned out to be a great event. We were very busy during the afternoon – once the sun came out the people came with it!

“The idea behind the Open Church Day is for any church to plan an event or something special, and invite the public to share the built ecclesiastical heritage. With this particular event we sold local honey and honey products, local fresh produce and operated a tombola stall. We also had demonstrations by local craft workers; face painting and a puppet show for the children and a welly-throwing contest – all with the intention of raising funds for the Church.”

She added: “The day had a real community feel to it and was successful in bringing people of all ages together."

PCSO Williams said: “This was a great event which saw lots of residents who stopped to have a chat with me. This is part of our Policing Pledge - to make sure local residents know who their neighbourhood policing team is and how to contact us.”
