U20s trials to be staged at Parc y Scarlets

All young and ambitious female rugby players have a great opportunity to impress the Welsh national selectors in an Under 20s Open Trials day at the home of the Scarlets, Parc y Scarlets.

The Open Trials will be staged where the likes of Lions heroes Matthew Rees and Stephen Jones strut their stuff, on Saturday 17th October. Registration begins at 9am and play should be wrapped up by around 4pm.

Interested players should meet in the classroom above the training barn at Parc y Scarlets and they should bring kit to do indoor and outdoor sessions, wet weather kit, boots, gum shield etc. They will be taking part in rugby, classroom and conditioning sessions. Players should also bring lunch/snacks and plenty of fluid.

The coaches will be Kylie Wilson and Chris Garrett who will be hoping to build on the success of the first two years of the programme where the focus will be on skills and conditioning and developing the player both on and off the field

The U20s will figure in two fixtures this season and with the Senior Women's World Cup at the end of the season, there is plenty of incentive for players to impress. Young stars like Elinor Snowsill – the U20s captain last season– have come through the U20 system and is now part of the senior world cup squad, proving there is a chance for players to impress the senior selectors.

All players must be 17, 18 or 19 on the 1st September of this year to qualify.

Any interested players should complete the below form and provide a cheque for £10 payable to WRU to Sophie Bennett, WRU Performance Manager which can be payable on the day.

Any queries or questions do not hesitate to contact her on 02920 822460.
