The volunteer RNLI Inshore lifeboat crew from Rhyl were called out at 2100 last night to assist local coastguards and police search for a young woman threatening suicide in the sea off Rhyl Skytower.
The police helicopter located the woman about 50m out just as the boat was launching and directed the crew to the woman. One RNLI volunteer crew member entered the water to hold the woman, who was drifting in and out of consciousness.
She was pulled into the inshore lifeboat and swiftly recovered at Rhyl RNLI lifeboat station, where police and ambulance crews were waiting. The woman was taken to Ysbyty Glan Clwyd.
Her condition is not known at this time.
