Could your community project benefit from Community Payback?

Do you know of a community project in the Caerphilly county borough that could benefit from receiving Community Payback?

Each year, offenders are committed to carrying out 10,000 hours of Community Payback in Caerphilly county borough and can undertake a wide range of work that will be of benefit to the community.

This can include graffiti removal, litter picking, removal of fly tipping, recycling projects, building maintenance and improvements to community facilities.

The Safer Caerphilly Community Safety Partnership and Gwent Probation Service would like to hear from you if you would like to put forward a suggestion for a community project that could benefit from receiving Community Payback in Caerphilly county borough.

Cabinet member for the environment, Cllr Lyn Ackerman said, "I would encourage anyone that has a suggestion for a community project within Caerphilly county borough that could benefit from Community Payback to get in touch with either the Safer Caerphilly Community Safety Partnership or Gwent Probation Service, and help ensure that we make full use of the 10,000 dedicated hours each year."

Offenders taking part in Community Payback are made to wear high visibility orange jackets with the words 'Community Payback' emblazoned across the back so that members of the community can see for themselves how offenders are paying back for the crimes they committed.

Community Payback is a vital part of the national Justice Seen, Justice Done campaign as it helps demonstrate to members of the public that community sentences are not soft options and that offenders are facing tough consequences for their actions.

To suggest a community project that could benefit from Community Payback, please contact Gwent Probation Service on 01633 822 007 or the Safer Caerphilly Community Safety Partnership on 01443 864 374. Alternatively you can visit the Safer CCB website and register your suggestion online.
