Tintern pub fined for food hygiene offences

MONMOUTHSHIRE County Council has urged businesses who need advice on food safety legislation to contact them after a Tintern pub was fined £1,200 by magistrates at Abergavenny this week.

David Stafford, of the Rose and Crown, Monouth Road, Tintern pleaded guilty on Wednesday to charges brought by the county's environmental health department following a routine inspection in July this year.

Mr Stafford was fined £1,200 with £1,412 costs for three breaches of the Food Hygiene (Wales) Regulations 2006.

Eric Saxon, MCC's Cabinet Member for environment/health, said:
“Our Environmental Health Officers work with businesses to help them meet legal requirements and the food produce safe food.

“However, if businesses fail to implement the advice given by officers, customer’s safety may be put at risk."

Food businesses in Monmouthshire should telephone 01633 644100.
