Jones will miss the rest of the four-match series, with Samoa up next this Friday night before Argentina and then Australia come to town, as well as a possible further three months of rugby, but he will not be replaced in head coach Warren Gatland's now 28-man squad.
"Dafydd sprung his A/C joint on Saturday and the severity of the injury has lead to him undergoing a repair this afternoon," said Wales physio Mark Davies.
"The prospects for recovery are good and we would anticipate him returning to play early in the New Year."
