Coffee mornings for cancer care in Swansea libraries

Swansea libraries are going caffeine crazy this month as they join one of the biggest coffee mornings ever in aid of Macmillan Cancer.

Kettles will be boiling in community libraries across the city between 10am and noon on Friday, September 25 as thousands of people have a cup of java to raise money to help improve the lives of people affected by cancer.

Libraries in Townhill, Gowerton, Oystermouth, Pennard, Pontarddulais, Sketty, and Gorseinon are among those taking part.

Youngsters at Central Library can enjoy a teddy bears' picnic and story time while mum and dad have a cuppa, while the Civic Centre is serving cream teas.

Councillor Graham Thomas, Swansea Council's Cabinet Member for Culture, Recreation and Tourism, said: "This is a great opportunity for people to find out what's available in their local community library and raise money for a very worthy cause at the same time.

"Libraries are often the heartbeat of the communities they serve these days as they offer people so much service and expertise.

"Let's hope as many people as possible can make it on the day to discover what's available and give this outstanding charity a much-deserved boost."

Contact your local library for more information or call 01792 636464.
