Council 100% supports jobs announcement

Denbighshire County Council has given a warm welcome to news that the Rhyl City Strategy is to create 322 new jobs over the next 18 months, with financial support from the Department of Work and Pension run Future Jobs Fund scheme.

Councillor David Thomas, Cabinet Lead Member for Regeneration, said: "This major announcement today (Tuesday) is a welcome boost for the Rhyl area. These will be quality jobs in a range of industries and will go a long way to meet the desperate need for new jobs to be created in this area, in particular for young people who want to get onto the job ladder.

"Denbighshire County Council has been fully supportive of the work of the Rhyl City Strategy and has been an active member since the Strategy was set up. The Council and all its partners on the Strategy are working tirelessly to attract new jobs and investment, as well as providing training opportunities for local people - enhancing their opportunities to get back into the world of work.

"Today's announcement signals a confidence in investing in the future of the young people of Rhyl - an announcement that we are welcoming with open arms."
