Fantastic fungi at Bangor

Fancy a ramble with a difference? If so, then come along and discover the fantastic variety of mushrooms and other fungi growing in our grasslands.

With Charles Aron, an expert in the field of mycology, you will get help on identifying colourful toadstools such as waxcaps, earth tongues and fairy clubs in the Bangor area. Few grasslands rich in fungi survive in north west Europe and this fungi foray will visit one of these special places, rich in a variety of fungi.

Emily Meilleur, Gwynedd Council Senior Biodiversity Officer said:

“This is a wonderful opportunity for anyone who is interested in nature and wildlife to take an interesting walk around to see the variety of wildlife we have to enjoy.”

This event has been organised by the Natur Gwynedd partnership and will start from the car park at Ysgol Friars, Bangor (SH564712) at 11am on Saturday, 26 September. You may want to bring a basket or other container for collecting mushrooms -please bring appropriate walking footwear and waterproof clothing (just in case!). Children must be accompanied by an adult.
