Special film and concert performance in Machynlleth

Renowned world music outfit The Kate Doubleday Band is staging a very special film and concert performance on Saturday 19th September at The Tabernacl, Machynlleth.

Local singer-songwriter and community gardener Kate Doubleday has recently won an award from the Arts Council of Wales to develop "Free-Falling" - a new body of work which focuses on migration, movement and wildlife.

She will be performing a preview of this new work with her band and special guest star Jamie Smith, the highly talented accordionist from the acclaimed Celtic Band Mabon.

One of the songs will be accompanied by a beautiful animated film created by magical Cardiff-based animator Virginia Head.

Kate sings of love, family and nature, weaving together strands of Celtic folk, blues and African influences. They are partly based on her experience working at RSPB Ynyshir, and the therapeutic community garden in Machynlleth.

She will also sing songs from her recent acclaimed album "Belonging" - which has a distinctive and innovative sound intertwining hypnotic vocals, kora and bass to give a rich and tender tapestry.

Her band features the wonderful talents of Trevor Lines (Double bass), Dan Wilkins (Guitar and Kora) Lydia Glanville (Percussion) and Pamela Pinnock (Vocals).

The concert is at the MOMA Tabernacl, Machynlleth. at 7.30pm. Doors open 7pm Concessions £6 Others £7.
