Welcome boost for Porthmadog

Gwynedd Council’s Head of Consultancy has welcomed the fact that a major civil engineering company who provide a range of services to the North Wales Trunk Road Agency and Gwynedd Council have established their new North Wales headquarters in Porthmadog.

Alun Griffiths (Contractors) Ltd’s new Porthmadog depot on the Penamser Industrial Estate will secure a number of skilled local jobs.

Huw Williams, Head of Gwynedd Council’s Consultancy Department said:

Gwynedd Consultancy has worked closely with Alun Griffiths (Contractors) for a number of years on a wide-range of projects including the new road to Rhiw, a safety scheme at Ysgol Brynaerau in Pontllyfni and car park at Ysgol Botwnnog.

“The fact that the company has now decided to locate its regional headquarters in Porthmadog is extremely good news for the Gwynedd economy at what is a difficult time.”

Terms were recently agreed between Alun Griffiths (Contractors) and Gelli Civil Engineering for the transfer of the premises in Porthmadog.

Alun Griffiths from Alun Griffiths (Contractors) Ltd added:

“The fact that we are now based in Porthmadog means that we are ideally placed to continue our positive working relationship with Gwynedd Consultancy and the North Wales Trunk Road Agency and we look forward to maintaining long and successful associations in the area.”
