5 x 60 Pupils go on an Adventure

Youngsters from across Pembrokeshire have been taking full advantage of the County's spectacular coastline this summer.

The Year 7, 8 and 9 pupils have been taking part in a series of outdoor and adventure activities run by Sport Pembrokeshire's 5x60 team.

Sea kayaking, rock climbing, abseiling, surfing, rockpooling, shore studies and coasteering were all on the agenda for 5X60 clubs, based in Fishguard and Tenby.

For many of those taking part this was their first opportunity to experience high adrenalin sports such surfing and sea kayaking.

Organised by Sport Pembrokeshire - the sports development arm of Pembrokeshire County Council - the 5x60 project encourages secondary school children to take part in extra-curricular activities, while getting fit at the same time.

The Territorial Army and Tenby Surf lifesaving Club also helped organise activities for the youngsters.

Councillor Rob Lewis, Cabinet Member for Sport and Leisure said the long summer break was an ideal opportunity for youngsters to experience the wide variety of activities that the County's coastline could offer.
