Historic Drovers stun Cardiff

It was an historic day for Llandovery at Cardiff Arms Park on Saturday as Llandovery beat the reigning champions 25-20 in a pulsating Principality Premiership encounter that was thrilling for both sets of supporters.

Despite conceding 14 unanswered points due to poor defending and hesitant covering in the opening 20 minutes the Drovers never lost their conviction trying to play entertaining rugby and were rewarded with a deserved 15-14 lead at half-time.

Another eye catching performance from wing Joe Ajuwa, a recent signing from London Welsh, and Drovers 7s international winger Ifan Evans, created tries for Man of the Match Jonny Edwards and ex Neath centre Aled Bevan.

The game was sealed with a second try for Edwards that was created by the home grown Scarlet hooker Emyr Phillips. There was also another exciting performance from Scarlets Academy product Lee Rees who made his first start at scrum half.

The Drovers were extremely unfortunate not to gain a winning bonus point as Cardiff secured their losing bonus point with a last minute penalty kick from Chris Anderson.
