Newport University's new approaches for businesses

A bold new initiative has been launched to help businesses use innovation and creativity to counter the economic downturn.

The University of Wales, Newport, unveiled The Entrepreneurship Foundation at Creative Capital, an event showcasing the latest thinking in the challenging and changing worlds of media, business, design, regeneration, technology and the creative industries.

The aim of the Foundation is to develop innovative managers who can combine senior leadership and entrepreneurial skills and power future business growth, even in the current economic climate.

Commenting on the launch of the new Foundation, Dr Tim McIntyre-Bhatty (pictured), Dean of Newport Business School, said: "The event was a fantastic showcase for what a modern, innovative university can achieve when working with business. It proves that making memorable experiences is going to keep students and businesses engaged, motivated and inspired to achieve better things.

"The businesses that are doing well are the ones that are re-thinking their business models, processes, product development and their relationship with their customers. The University is at the front edge of this thinking and will help support and stimulate growth in the economy and produce graduates to support it.”

Creative Capital was a free event organised by Newport’s University at the spectacular glass East Wintergarden building and featured an impressive programme of interactive workshops, launches, work from the latest fashion and photography talent, and speeches from senior industry figures.
