A post mortem has taken place into the death of a man in his 20's at Ysbyty Glan Clwyd in Bodelwyddan.
The cause of death has been deferred pending toxicology tests.
The incident is not being treated as suspicious.
The chemical discovered is believed to be caustic soda and did not play a part in the man's death.
Police are continuing their inquiries on behalf of the Coroner.
