Suspicious vehicle in the Caerphilly County Borough area

Gwent Police is advising members of the public to be cautious after receiving reports of a suspicious car driving in the Caerphilly County Borough area.

Calls have been received reporting the car being driven by a man around the Blackwood, Bargoed, Aberbargoed, Abercarn and Fleur-dy-Lys areas, stopping to speak to teenage girls and attempting to entice them into the vehicle.

None of the incidents have resulted in anyone getting into the vehicle, the females approached ignored the driver and walked away.

An investigation is underway into the reports and patrols have been increased in the areas where the vehicle has been sighted.

Bargoed Neighbourhood Inspector Fran Richley said;

"Residents should be reassured that we are taking these reports very seriously and we are conducting enquiries in the area to locate the vehicle concerned and the person responsible.

"I would emphasise to children and teenagers not to enter an unknown vehicle under any circumstances and if they are approached by a stranger asking them to enter a vehicle to tell a parent or teacher straight away."
