Police seize 400 cannabis plants in Swansea

South Wales Police in Swansea executed a drugs search warrant at a house in Pentregethin Road in the Fforesthall area, at 5pm on Wednesday 4th November 2009

Police and Electricity Board officials discovered that the premises housed a fully functioning cannabis plantation with in excess of 400 plants.

Two men aged 32 and 33 years and two women aged 37 and 32 years all of Chinese nationality have been arrested and are in custody at Swansea Central Police Station.

An examination of the scene has been carried out by Forensic Officers and Electricity Board officials has found that the premises had been fitted with highly sophisticated heating and lighting equipment along with an irrigation system

Detective Sergeant Paul Rees said who led the operation said “There is no doubt that this is a significant seizure, and will go some way to reduce the amount of cannabis getting out onto the streets”

“In the past we have appealed to members of the public and in particular to Landlords to be vigilant and look out for unusual behaviour and infrequent callers to premises, along with blackened out windows and excessive lighting.

“Information of this type has previously proved to be very successful and I would appeal to both Landlords and the public alike to continue to supply us with information no matter how trivial or insignificant they think it is”

Anyone who has any information on drugs issues is asked to contact Police in Swansea on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
