Wilson Road recreation ground bulb planting

The Ely Garden Villagers Group, local community and children have teamed up with Council gardeners to plant daffodils to brighten the Wilson Road Recreation Ground next spring.

The Group, which was initially formed five years ago after a series of problems with fly tipping and burnt out cars in the area and has worked alongside Cardiff Council to help keep the recreational ground clean and tidy.

The football pitch was reinstated two years ago and some of the local parents have attended football coaching courses and are helping out at the two recently installed mini football pitches for children under the age of 11 which are proving to be a big success.

The variety of bulbs called Narcissus Dutch master will be sprouting next spring in time for St David’s Day and the blooms are sure to be the perfect decoration to enhance the recreation ground.

Councillor Howells, Executive Member Sport, Culture & Leisure said: “We are looking forward to viewing the outcome of the bulb planting and delighted that so many people took part in the event within their local community. We are pleased that the community group and the Council continues to work together to help maintain and improve the recreational ground which benefits the whole community.”
