Blackwood man starts 800 day charity trek

A BLACKWOOD man has been waved on his 18,000 mile, 800-day way around the world by Caerphilly County Borough Council's Mayor.

Dale Taylor, 25, from Mynyddislwyn is making the incredible journey for the charity Action for Children.

He called in at the Mayor's Parlour at Penallta House before leaving so Mayor, Councillor John Evans, could wish him luck and pass on the best wishes of everyone in the county borough.
Dale should be back in two years.

Dale said: "I've always wanted to do this walk. I was inspired to do this by my father as he tried something similar and has an adventurous personality."

"I've worked for Action For Children in a school for kids with behaviour problems for two years in Penarth, and my mother is the manger of Wooden Spoon House in Blackwood, a respite home for kids with disabilities. Consequently, Action for Children is a very close charity to our family."

Cllr Evans, said, "I am so proud of Dale and other local people like him, who are willing to go the distance to raise money for a worthy cause. I wish him all the best on his walk around the world and look forward to greeting him upon his return."
