Dragons U16s in confident mood

The Dragons will hope to maintain their winning start to the WRU Age Grade Championship season tomorrow night and at the same time inflict a first defeat of the season on the Ospreys.

Having kicked off their campaign with a 25-11 victory over Blues North at Merthyr, the Dragons entertain the Ospreys at Tredegar with team manager Wayne Pugh keen to see his side continue their winning start.

“It was a great win for the boys last week, now we need to make home advantage count and add a second win,” said Pugh.

“There is a good feeling within the squad at the moment and we are obviopusly looking forward to the game. We have a young coaching team headed by the Dragons No.8 Lewis Evans and I think their enthusiasm is shining through.”

In the other game, Blues South welcome the Scarlets to Taffs Well with the visitors also looking to build on their opening victory of the season, 34-0 over Gogledd Cymru.

Scarlets team manager Wyn Thomas said; “It was good to get off to a winning start and with a bonus point too. However, we know that the Blues South will provide us with a really stern test.”

The Scarlets will be looking to outside half Jordan Williams for inspiration – he bagged a try, four conversions and two penalties against the North.
