Gwent Police is appealing for information following the discovery of an as yet unidentified woman who was found in the River Ebbw in Beaufort, Ebbw Vale on Sunday 31st of October.
At around 10:12 this morning police were called to a report of a woman’s body found in the water close to Allotment Road.
Officers are now appealing for assistance as they have so far been unable to establish the identity of the woman and are issuing a description of her.
She is described as white, around 60 - 80 years of age, of a medium build with grey collar length hair.
She was wearing a Grey checked knee length skirt, light pink coloured woollen jumper, a cream cardigan, a brown or possibly green three quarter length coat with hood, size 6 brown leather slip-on shoes and also a Gold wedding band.
Enquires are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding the death and a post mortem will take place to establish the exact cause of death, in the meantime police are treating the death as unexplained.
Detective Inspector Richard Williams commented:
“I would appeal to anyone who may have information that can help us identify this woman, or who may be able to assist us in our enquiries regarding this to ring Gwent Police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
