Theft of HGV’s in Greenfield
NOTRH Wales Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses and information after three HGV's were stolen from Greenfield during the early hours of yesterday morning, Thursday, August 14.
Three vehicles, which police suspect were stolen, were sighted in the Deeside area by North Wales Police officers and followed to the Cheshire border. There was no pursuit or attempt to stop the vehicles.
Cheshire Police officers assisted North Wales Police in approaching the three HGV's at a car park on Parkgate Road, Ledsham near Ellesmere Port just before 01:30am.
One of the occupants of the HGV's attempted to make off from the officers on foot, and as he did so, one of the other HGV's collided with him.
As a result the man, who is a 34 year old from Liverpool, received injuries to his pelvis. He is currently hospitalised and his condition is described as stable. One HGV made off from the scene. The hospitalised man was arrested on suspicion of theft and remains under arrest.
Due to the proximity of the police at the time of the collision, the Independent Police Complaints Commission were notified as per normal procedure.
All three stolen vehicles were later recovered in the Ledsham area.
Enquiries are ongoing and officer are continuing to appeal for witnesses in relation to this incident, and in particular anyone who saw the HGV's in the North Wales/Ellesmere Port area around the time of the incident, to contact officers at Mold CID on 0845 607 1001 (Welsh line) 0845 607 1002 (English line) or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
