An appeal for witnesses and information is being made after a number of vehicles were stolen in the Mold area between Sunday night, September 6, and Monday, September 7.
Four vehicles in all were stolen including a Volkswagen Scirocco, a Nissan Micra from Northop, a Toyota Avensis and a Mazda MX5 were taken from Bryn-y-Bal.
The VW Scirocco was stolen from the Padeswood area and was recovered in Northop. A Toyota Avensis stolen was involved in a collision and has since been recovered. Both vehicles have now been seized and are subject for forensic examination.
Three garages were also targeted overnight (September 6 - 7) by offenders and police also received two reports of attempted break-ins in the Mynydd Isa area. Investigating officers believe all the incidents are linked.
Following police inquiries, a white van with windows was seen in the Pen y Ffordd area (near Chester) around midnight on Sunday and two men were seen acting suspiciously around cars. Police believe this incident may be linked to the thefts. A vehicle similar to that seen was found abandoned in the Paeswood area of Mold where the VW Scirocco was stolen. A white van has been recovered and is subject to forensic examination.
Enquiries are continuing and there is an appeal to anyone who witnessed anyone acting suspiciously in the Mynydd Isa and Northop areas from midnight on Sunday to contact PC 1289 Matthias on 101 (if in Wales) or 0845 6071001 (Welsh language line) 0845 6071002 (English language line) or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
