Council awards latest housing improvement contract

Denbighshire's Cabinet has agreed to award a tender to Bramall Construction Limited to carry out the next phase of a major improvement scheme to the council's housing stock.

1,132 properties in Denbighshire have been improved to date out of the total stock of 3,470 properties.

The next phase of the improvement programme is worth approximately £10 million over two years and Bramall Construction has been awarded a £1.4 million contract for the first phase.

Councillor Pauline Dobb, Cabinet Lead Member for Health and Well-being, said: "Denbighshire is committed to improving all its stock, to bring it in line with the Welsh Housing Quality Standard by 2012 and we are on target to meet that aspiration.

“New windows, doors and central heating have been installed throughout and this part of the programme is concentrating on kitchens and bathrooms.

"This is a major project for the Council and tenants that have already had work carried out in their homes, including central heating, new windows and doors. They have been very complimentary about the work and they have benefitted tremendously from renovation and improvement."
