If you’re a Denbighshire resident and want to find out how you can best protect your home and family in the event of a flood, then we invite you to come along to Morrisons Car Park, Rhyl, on Saturday, 12th September 2009, between 10am and 4pm, to our Flood Awareness Event.
Flooding can hit at any time of the year and instances of flash flooding in the summer months are increasing. As such, the Denbighshire Flood Awareness Event will focus on specific flooding issues that affect the people of Denbighshire, and will show residents how they can take control of a future flooding situation.
Expert advice
The event will host a number of expert representatives including the Council’s Environment Department, Emergency Planning Department, Environment Agency Wales, National Flood Forum, North Wales Police, British Red Cross, Neighbourhood Watch, RNLI, Welsh Water and North Wales Fire & Rescue Service. The Event will provide an opportunity for residents of Denbighshire to talk with experts regarding flood risks and how to protect themselves and their property from the devastation flooding can bring. There will also be an opportunity to look at project work planned for flood protection in the near future.
A number of suppliers of flood defence equipment have agreed to attend, showcasing flood kits and flood protection products, and talk about how investment in flood defence can benefit both the private and business community.
The Fire and Rescue Services will be exhibiting their High Volume Pump, and Flood Response Unit, along with other Fire & Rescue Service vehicles, and RNLI will be exhibiting their inflatable Rescue Boat.
