Doctor Who fans get creative at Glynn Vivian

The Glynn Vivian Art Gallery has been invaded as free art workshops gave Swansea kids the chance to make their own weird and wacky space age gizmos.

Original Head of Props from Doctor Who, Mark Cordory, led the event to show a group of model-making enthusiasts just what it takes to create some of the coolest props from the hit TV show.

Children aged from four to 10 got the chance to see how to build and bring to life the weird and wonderful gadgets as model-making expert Mark demonstrated some of the techniques and tools used by the professionals.

They were also able to let their imaginations run wild as they had a go at recreating some of the gadgets that the Doctor uses each week to battle the terrifying space monsters.

Mark Cordory said: "It has been great fun to see what the kids have come up with, and some demonstrated huge creativity and talent for prop-making.

"Seeing them inspired and enthusiastic about what they were doing has been a real joy."

As a further incentive, children were asked to compete against each other over the two days to come up with the most imaginative design in order to win a special prize.

The winner was voted for by the other members of the workshop which proved to be a real treat for the super Doctor Who fans.

The Glynn Vivian Art Gallery will be continuing to develop this enthusiasm for art with a series of kids Saturday workshops which will start in September.
