Children Turn Out in Force at Summer Playschemes

Tree climbing, den building, painting, junk modelling, water sliding and parachute games are just some favourite activities taking place across Neath Port Talbot.

Funded by the Council, the free two hour play sessions are proving to be a huge success once again this year.

Thirty playschemes are now up and running and due to run until Friday 28th August. They all take place outdoors.

All children are invited but the under 5s must be accompanied by a parent and guardian. Everyone is likely to get wet and dirty so old clothes are advisable.

The sessions are open access where children are free to come and go as they wish. To find your nearest one, visit www.npt.gov.uk/play

Leader of Council, Ali Thomas, said, "Play is an important part of a child's life and children, young people and parents benefit from local schemes where fully trained playworkers encourage children to explore and play in a safe environment.

"It is great to see that so many children are taking advantage of their local playscheme."
