North Wales Police has carried out a successful test purchase operation to clampdown on underage drinkers in Meirionnydd.
The operation was carried out in Blaenau Ffestiniog, Bala, Dolgellau, Barmouth and Tywyn on Friday, 23rd October and targeted 18 premises that sold alcohol - each of them passing with flying colours.
PC Dewi Wynne said: “I am extremely pleased that all premises refused to sell alcohol to the underage volunteer who helped us with the test purchase.
“This goes a long way in proving that local retailers want to work with the police to stop the problems associated with underage drinking.
He added: “We hope this good working partnership continues and shows that by working together we can target problems that can affect our communities.”
North Wales Police welcome any information from anyone who may have information regarding premises that are selling alcohol to underage people or areas where young people consume alcohol.
Anyone with information can contact their local Neighbourhood Policing Team on 101, or 0845 607 1001 (Welsh line) or 0845 607 1002 (English line).
