£4.4 million for Blaenau Ffestiniog scheme

Gwynedd Council has welcomed the announcement by the Welsh Assembly Governement that a £4.4 million investment will ensure the success of the Blaenau Ymlaen scheme.

The project will include improvements to Church Street and the High Street as well as improvements to local shops. Local residents will be able to access customer care, business and entrepreneurship courses. The development aims to encourage people to spend time and money in the town.

Councillor Dewi Lewis, who leads on the Economy on Gwynedd Council said: "This fanancial boost from the Assembly Government is great news for the town of Blaenau Ffestiniog and will enable us to move forward with the regeneration plans for the town. Our priority for now will be to work with the local comunity to ensure that Blaenau Ffestiniog can make the most of this investment."

Bob Cole, Blaenau Ymlaen Chairman added: "We are delighted to receive this funding, and this is a great example of what can be achieved when local residents, the Council and the Assembly work together. We now look forwards to seeing the work developing over the next few years, and strongly believe that this will spur further investment in the town."
