A charity fun day in aid of the British Heart Foundation and Macmillan Cancer Support will be hosted at Llantrisant Leisure Centre, Southgate Park, Llantrisant, on Saturday, October 31, 2009.
Crafts, a jumble sale, prize raffle, teas and coffees and a bouncy castle and face painting for children will be on offer during the day, organised by Dave Healy, who runs Rhondda Cynon Taf’s Cardiac Rehabilitation Phase IV Classes.
There will also be a performance from a wind instrument band, an auction and Hallowe’en fancy dress. The fun day gets underway from 9am and all are welcome.
“The British Heart Foundation and Macmillan carry out vital research work on behalf of patients affected by heart disease and cancer, so we are hoping many people will come along and support the fundraising day, and that local businesses may give a donation,” said Dave.
Cardiac rehabilitation classes are held in leisure centres across Rhondda Cynon Taf, giving heart patients an opportunity to take part in a high-quality supervised exercise programme, with the aim of encouraging long-term participation in physical activity.
Classes help improve people’s health and well-being through a more active lifestyle. They also offer people an opportunity to socialise and share their experiences.
Class members are referred from hospital and have a consultation first to discuss their medical history, medication and what they would like to achieve, before joining the 16-week programme. Cardiac Rehab (Phase IV) classes are held at Llantrisant Leisure Centre every Friday afternoon.
