A taste of the local produce on offer in Neath Port Talbot will be served up at an annual food festival.
Neath Town Centre will hold its first festival of food and drink on Saturday October 24th 2009 from 10.00am until 4.00pm.
The October Food Festival will be an exciting addition to the annual programme of successful events held in the Town Centre every year, which include the Town Festival in May and the Historic September Fair.
The festival will highlight the variety of high quality Welsh produce that is available locally and focus on the range of products currently available from award winning suppliers in the Town's covered market and the surrounding area.
With green credentials an essential part of the consumer society today, the food festival will focus on the benefits to consumers and the community of sourcing, cooking and even growing local produce whilst reducing the need to travel elsewhere to find it, as typified by a Fair Trade Town.
As businesses in the town develop and the new Town Centre development progresses accordingly, the Food Festival will bring the latest food trends into the heart of Neath, building on the success of existing hospitality businesses and encouraging the emergence of new ones.
The Festival will be a fun filled day and will encourage visitors from afar to experience all the charms that the town has to offer.
The Festival is an opportunity for all groups in the community to come together and showcase any health and wellbeing activities they are involved in from Allotment Committees to Walking groups, jam makers, bee keepers, PTA's to community cafés and hopefully many others that we have not even thought of.
There will be an opportunity for those who already have amazing culinary skills to pass them onto those that may just be exploring the idea of creating their own homemade meals with demonstrations and master classes taking place in venues around the Town.
