Get ready for a 'Spooktacular' half term in Cardiff

There are plenty of things to do in Cardiff this half term and with Halloween approaching events will have a spooky theme

Cardiff Libraries have put together a great programme of events which won’t cost you a penny! Llandaff North Library is hosting a Halloween craft morning on Wednesday, October 28 from 10.30am to 12.30pm. Library staff will show you how to make scary spiders, wacky webs and Halloween cards!. Cardiff Central Library will host a ‘Halloween Hocus Pocus’ event on Thursday, October 29 at 2pm for children aged five and over. Come and enjoy spooky stories, crafts and games. The event is free to attend and will last an hour. Please call the Children’s Department on 029 2078 0953 to book a place

Radyr Library is holding a Children’s Party for Halloween on Friday, October 30 from 4pm. Contact the library for more details on 029 2084 2234. Finally Grangetown Library will be holding a ‘Spooky Storytime’ on Saturday, October 31 at 2.30pm. Contact the library for more details on 029 2023 0526.

Cardiff Bay Visitor Centre (CBVC) will also play host to a special pirate themed day on Tuesday October 27. CBVC has teamed up with Craft in the Bay to run creative sessions. Children can create their own characters and If they are feeling particularly adventurous they can even create an entire 3D pirate story making parrots, palm trees, treasure chests and even galleons!

If the sun is shining there are plenty of parks in Cardiff for families to enjoy. Bute Park, Roath Park, Victoria Park and Grange Gardens have all been awarded Green flags making them a perfect budget busting option on a sunny day.

Executive Member for Sport, Culture and Leisure, Cllr Nigel Howells said: “Keeping children entertained during half term can be very hard, this is why we have put together a programme of events for families to enjoy. There is plenty going on in the city this half term and best of all it’s all for free.”
