Language boost with official opening of centre at Ysgol Frongoch

A brand new language centre for youngsters who enter the Welsh medium education system late has opened its doors in Denbigh to its first pupils.

The Centre at Ysgol Frongoch was set up following the recommendations of a working group set up to look at Welsh and bilingual education in Denbighshire and in response to feedback from Welsh- medium schools in the county that the provision for those pupils needed to be expanded.

The new centre offers intensive Welsh lessons over a three day period each week, to allow the youngsters the opportunity to familiarise themselves with Welsh medium education.

The Centre, under the leadership of the Athrawon Bro team in Denbighshire, will be working in partnership with Ysgol Frongoch and Ysgol Twm o'r Nant (they both share the same campus), to ensure that the youngsters settle into the centre for a term.
