Wales scrum-half Mike Phillips is still unsure of a date for his return to fitness after an ankle injury ruled him out of the Invesco Perpetual Series.
Phillips suffered ligament damage in the Ospreys’Heineken Cup win over Clermont Auvergne and will definitely be unavailable for the games against New Zealand, Samoa, Argentina and Australia.
Initial prognosis suggested that the Lions Test star would be out of action for between eight -10 weeks but that could increase to four months according to Ospreys coach Jonathan Humphreys.
“Mike is in a bit of limbo at the moment in that he’s not exactly sure what the diagnosis will be on his ankle,” said former Wales skipper Humphreys.
“We are looking at a decent-case scenario of eight-10 weeks and a worst-case scenario of 16 weeks.
“So we don’t know where he is with that really.
“When the swelling settles down they will have a better idea.”
