Police investigate wheelie bin fire in Baglan

Police in Port Talbot are investigating a wheelie bin fire which happened at Pentyla Baglan Road during the early hours of Sunday 11th October 2009.

A wheelie bin was pushed near the property and set alight, resulting in the 23-year-old female occupier having to escape from the house. Fortunately the fire did not spread to the house.

As part of their investigations, police want to trace two individuals who are seen on CCTV footage from Port Talbot town centre on the night of Saturday 10th October and into the early hours of Sunday 11th October. One of the males is wearing a green top, the other is dressed in black.

It is believed they walked from the town centre along Pentyla Baglan Road in the general direction of Baglan.

Port Talbot Neighbourhood Policing Team Sergeant Geraint Jenkins said: “This was potentially a very serious incident and if it wasn’t for the occupant of the property getting out of the house when she did then the consequences could have been far worse.

“We are appealing to anyone who recognises the two individuals from the CCTV pictures to come forward as we need to trace them in connection with the incident.”

Anyone with information should call South Wales Police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
