Stand in stand off Priestland's Scarlet's winner

Rhys Priestland came in as a late replacement for Stephen Jones who pulled out at the final hour following a twinge to his neck and proved the match winner on the night.

He got the Scarlets off to a great start with a penalty kick as David Lyons showed early strength in attack.

Dragons’ camped on the Scarlets line but went back for the restart with just the three points when Scarlets committed a professional foul. Priestland was then on target again to put Llanelli back in front.

The game lost it's way in the second quarter and the Dragons were the stronger creative and attacking force as the ref whistled for the break.

Heavy rain after the interval didn't do anything for the entertainment levels as Priestland opened the scoring to punish a Dragons off-side, before making it 12 - 3 with another penalty moments later.

Boosted by their successful kicker Scarlets started to look sharper than their visitors and Priestland duly added a fifth penalty kick.

Scarlets were racking up the phases but couldn't convert domination into tries. Priestland rounded off the
18 - 3 win with his sixth three-pointer.
