Two-minute silence to mark Armistice Day

The Vale of Glamorgan Council is again supporting the Royal British Legion and its nationwide observance of a two-minute silence on Armistice Day.

At 11am on Wednesday, 11 November, residents are invited to join Vale Mayor Cllr Emlyn Williams, staff from the Civic Offices, councillors and representatives of local organisations for a short service and wreath laying at the Merchant Seamen’s Memorial. The start and end of the silence will be marked by the playing of the 'Last Post' and 'Reveille.'

Anyone wishing to attend is asked to assemble at the Civic Offices forecourt at 10.50am.

Cllr Williams, who appealed for the people of the Vale to support this year's Poppy Appeal "as generously as they have in the past," added: "I hope as many people as possible will join me to remember the sacrifices made by the armed forces in order that future generations are able to live in peace and freedom."
