Young people have their say

Keith Towler, the Childrens Commissioner For Wales, is set to open the Caerphilly Youth Forum annual conference this week.

The Caerphilly Youth Forum is holding the event at the Maes Manor Hotel in Blackwood on 22nd October 2009 from 9.30am to 3pm.

Keith Towler will open the proceedings with a welcome speech and other guests include Cllr Lindsay Whittle, the Leader of the Council.

All Youth Projects, Schools and Youth Clubs in the county borough have been asked to elect representatives to raise any issues and give views from their service. All the representatives will gather at the conference where they will have the chance to get their voice heard on issues that are affecting young people living in the Caerphilly county borough today.

It will then be the Forum's job to try and tackle these issues over the next 12 months and create positive change in the area.

As well as the serious business of discussing these matters and working out how they can be addressed, there will also be lots of fun with 'ice breakers', a disco with VOICE FM, a magician and a buffet!

Any young people aged between 11 and 25 years old interested in joining the Youth Forum need to register with the Forum team prior to Conference.

You can do this either through your school/project or Youth club or by contacting the Forum team on 01443 863292.
